Manjusha Painting - Extravagant Marriage Possession
The painting depicts the possession of Chandu Saudagar to find a suitable bride for his son, Bala Lakhendra. Bala Lakhendra was the only son of Chandu Saudagar after all his sons were killed by Bisaharis (Manasa Devi) when he refused to worship them. Because of being the only son, possession was carried out with huge grandeur by rich Chandu Saudagar. The painting is made on hand-made paper and comes without a frame.

The Art:
According to the old legends of “Ang Pradesh” (current day Bhagalpur), Bihula carried her dead husband in a boat. The cover of the boat was painted with all the events leading upto his death in a sequential manner. This sequential painting later came to be known as Manjusha Craft.

The painting has been made by Shilp Guru and pioneer of the Manjusha craft Manoj Pandit from Bhagalpur.
