Antique Dhokra Bookends - Folk Musician Playing "Nagada"

Handmade bookends of folk musician playing nagada. Traditionally, this instrument is part of traditional ensemble of nine instruments found at royal courts. The bookends are made of antique brass using Dhokra technique.

The Art:
Dhokra artefacts can be traced back as early as Mohenjo-daro. It is the oldest traditional technique of casting metal. The name of the art is derived from the fact that it is greatly practiced by Dhokra damar tribe.

The Artisan:
This Dhokra art work is made by Jai Hind Thakur from Chattisgarh.
