Gond Painting - Tree of Life
A beautiful and magnificent painting depicting the tree of life. Gonds worship Mahua tree because they believe that the whole life of these trees are spent in service of humanity. With their leaves, fruits, flowers, branches, roots, fragrance, sap, bark, wood, and finally even their ashes as coal, they exist purely for others. They are worshipped as life-givers, sanctuaries for spirits, on equal footing with the gods. According to belief, trees work hard during the day to provide shelter, shade and nourishment. At night-time, though, their true nature is revealed, transforming the forest into a luminous, enchanting, other-worldly place. The painting is made on canvas and comes without frame.
