Hand-painted "Madhubani Art" Coasters from Bihar
A set of 4 hand-painted coasters depicting part of Khobar in Madhubani style. The motif is painted in the Khobar Ghar or the nuptial chamber to bless a newly wed couple.The central theme of these Khobar paintings are love and prosperity. It is believed that Madhubani art was born when Sita was married to Rama when King Janaka ordered that that the walls of palace should be decorated with paintings.
These coasters have been beautifully hand-painted on handmade paper which has been framed with glasses.
This is made by the local artist from Madhubani where the art has originated.
