Hand-painted Kalighat Art Silk Duppatta - Aquatic Life

The Art:
The Kalighat Painting was originated in West Bengal in 19th century around Kalibari temple in Kolkata. These paintings get patronage from people who have been inspired by modern thoughts and aesthetics. The art is not restricted to only religious themes. They often depict different interpretation to mythology and contemporary events in their own unique way. Kalighat paintings are produced with variety of water based, opaque colours on paper.
