Hand-painted Manjusha Art Bhagalpuri Silk Saree - Mansa Devi
A hand-painted saree on Bhagalpuri silk illustrating “Manasaputri" of Lord Shiva. Together they are known as Mansa Devi. They are believed to be originated from Lord Shiva’s hair. The color of saree is one of the three colors allowed in the ancient art of Manjusha. The borders are adorned with the “champa” flower, prime motif of the art. This saree celebrates the uniqueness and exquisiteness of the folk art.

According to the old legends of “Ang Pradesh” (current day Bhagalpur), Bihula carried her dead husband in a boat. The cover of the boat was painted with all the events leading upto his death in a sequential manner. This sequential painting later came to be known as Manjusha Craft.
The painting has been made by Shilp Guru and pioneer of the Manjusha craft Manoj Pandit from Bhagalpur.
