A hand-painted tray depicting Turtle in Manjusha style. In Indian culture, Turtle plays an important part in Vastu Sastra. It is believed that Turtle brings longevity to people's life. This art is originated from a folklore of Bihula-Bishari in Ang Pradesh (modern day eastern Bihar). The festival of Bishari Puja is still celebrated in the region in the month of August every year.
This tray have been beautifully hand-painted on handmade paper and hot pressed to make it waterproof.
This is made by the local artist from Bhagalpur (previously Ang Pradesh) where the art has originated.
