The Art:
Straw craft is relatively new craft developed in 1970’s. The craft is time consuming and tedious. The straws are left to dry in sun from 5 to six months to fully attain its color, shinny golden hue. Each straw is then split into two halves and used to make different shapes. The subjects are drawn from local folklore and mythology. Lord Jagannath occupies central theme in most of the paintings.

The painting is made by national awardee artist Pradeepta Kumar Nayak from Odisha.
