In this painting, main characters of Tarkeshwar Murder Case is depicted. Nobin Chandra and his wife Elokeshi (who was murdered by him) has been shown spending a quiet evening at home. It is said that Elokeshi was cheating on her husband. This was a highly publicised trial in 1873. The painting is made on paper and comes with frame.

The Art:

The Kalighat Painting was originated in West Bengal in 19th century around Kalibari temple in Kolkata. These paintings get patronage from people who have been inspired by modern thoughts and aesthetics. The art is not restricted to only religious themes. They often depict different interpretation to mythology and contemporary events in their own unique way. Kalighat paintings are produced with variety of water based, opaque colours on paper.
