Kalighat Painting - Travelling Affectionate Couple
In this painting, a Zamindar and his wife are depicted while travelling. It was a common practice in India for men to accompany their wives when they have to travel. Unlike other cultures where it was considered taboo to remain seated close to wife or show affection to her in public, Bengali culture proudly displayed it in their paintings.
