Madhubani Painting - King of the Jungle
This painting depicts lions as a theme. Narasimha, the Lion Man, is described as an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lion is always seen as a symbol of strength, power and royalty. According to the mythology, Narshimha saved the child devotee Prahalad from his own father, the king Hiranyakashyapa. Lion is also considered as divine mount of Goddess Durga. The painting is made on hand-made paper, hot-pressed and framed for longevity.

Madhubani Art dates back to the epochal period of Ramayana. According to mythology, King Janak ordered his subjects to decorate the entire town during Sita’s swayamvar. Since women generally stayed indoor, they decorated the walls with beautiful paintings.
