Madhubani Painting - Sita Vidaai
The painting depicts the “Vidaai” ritual of Ram Sita Vivah. In India, Vidaai is a post wedding ceremony, which takes place after all the wedding rituals are completed. In this ritual the bride leaves her parent’s home and embraces her husband’s home as hers. During the vidaai ceremony, the bride is accompanied by her parents and associates, which lead her outside the doorstep of the house. The painting is made on hand-made paper washed with cow dung to bring health and happiness to your life.

Madhubani Art dates back to the epochal period of Ramayana. According to mythology, King Janak ordered his subjects to decorate the entire town during Sita’s swayamvar. Since women generally stayed indoor, they decorated the walls with beautiful paintings.
The painting has been made by State awardee artist Asha Devi from Bihar.
