Pattachitra Painting - Krishna Raas Leela
This painting depicts the theme of Krishna raas. It is believed that Lord Jagannath is an incarnation of Lord Krishna. Hence the story of Lord Krishna is depicted as popular themes in Pattachitra. The episode of Krishna playing flute to his beloved Gopis has been very important in development of Hindu devotional tradition. The painting is made on tassar silk and comes with frame.

Pattachitra paintings can be traced back to the establishment of the shrine of Lord Jagannath at Puri in Odisha. The legend goes that this all started with an annual temple ritual that required the deities to be displaced for cleansing. Pattachitras were used to temporarily fill in their place while the ceremony was performed. The basic tales drawn in Pattachitra revolves around the life of Lord Jagannath.
The painting has been made by National Merit Awardee artist Biswanath from Odisha.
