Kantha / Sujini Embroidery is one of the oldest textile form of India. It is believed to be originated during the early human history when mothers used to make blankets for their newly born child. The mother’s old sarees and cloths were stitched together to make a quilt to keep baby warm and also for baby to feel mother’s presence even when she is not around. With time, decorative motifs were included to make it look more presentable on multiple fabrics.
